Salmon Run

One day Dustin came home from work and said, "Lets go on an adventure."  We piled in the car and took a drive.  He would not tell us where we were going.  We drove about 45 minutes and ended up on the other side of Porcupine Dam.  We had to walk a little farther (and it was the first cold and rainy day we had seen in awhile)  Ella complained because she was bored.

Dustin led us up to a river and we all looked it.  The river was swarming with bright red salmon.  Dustin gave us a little lesson about the salmon run, and how really, salmon in Utah is a very rare sight.  We watched these little fishies swim against the current.  Then we caught sight of some of the strong ones jump up and over the waterfall.  It was pretty incredible.

Ella had a blast and said she was really glad we went.  No more complaining from her.  Seeing the changing fall leaves on the drive and watching first hand these little creatures defy what is supposed to happen in order to lay their eggs was a great reminder that Nature = Awesome.
